It's NOT funny!

Why does Halloween always have to be cold and rainy!!!???? These poor kids have looked forward to this for months and then what a mess they had to be in! We trudged around in the pouring rain for 2 hours.....candy is not that important is it? I guess it is....there were an aweful lot of drenched little children out there. Ponchos, umbrellas and rainhats were the costumes....

I love these girls like they are mine.......

It's funny that jokes are so language based. Jokes DO NOT translate and cannot be told to any degree of funniness when you don't "get it".

Knock, Knock, who's there?, Boo, Boo Who? Don't cry---simple right?
Well when you don't understand what Boohoo is, it doesn't make any sense. In another language the sound may be wahwah or eaweaw - so Boo Who doesn't sound like anything but boo who.

So to an Iraqi little girl it's "nock, nock, who there? poo, who poo? What's the rest?"

Shakespear's comedies are the same way - we don't find them very funny anymore unless we live in 16th century land. All the jokes are based on things then.....while the tragedies live on as the great works because sadness and grief are the same from language to language and from age to age..... Interesting
