Holy Poop Batman!
I bought my first package of diapers last night. I was at the grocery store and thought "what if they call us and tell us there is a baby to go get at the hospital" (don't laugh it could happen). I thought we could get by without a lot of things but that isn't one of them. I was SHOCKED! 10.99 for 40 diapers. I think i'll make my own wipes - there's a recipe where you cut a roll of papertowels in half and put it in a liquid that you make up and put into a tupperware container. My word - what you pay for convienience!

You may or may not want to brace yourself by visiting the FORMULA aisle!! We got a Sam's Club membership that's more than paid for itself in diapers and formula alone.
We got really lucky--my stab at adoptive breastfeeding failed, but Meg can use just plain old Sam's Club formula (the cheapest on the planet, I think), and we are just now expirementing with Sam's diapers.
We break everything down into unit pricing--it's easier to see if sales are really sales that way.
And you can kiss Starbucks and many other luxuries Good-Bye!
wow... thanks for posting this info. I will for sure do some shopping for pricing. I am trying to put the adoption budget together and formula(although I will try adoptive breastfeeding too) costs, diapers, etc. Thanks.
Oh, let me find that home made diaper wipe formula to make too. My sister did that and saves so much money. SHe also used home made diaper clothes for wipes when at home. easy to wash.
mich, we do have a sam's club membership so I will go in there this weekend and price things.
we are just at the application state for adoption, but I need to get prepped for costs in the future.
Thanks P!
One of my friends uses cloth diapers, she orders them on the internet, and she and her kids seem to like them. I I can't remember her blog address, but it's listed on the left hand side of mine, if you email her or post a comment, I'm sure she'd be happy to tell you where she orders them!
